What to Expect
On arrival, you’ll be welcomed by Eleni and given a simple icebreaker to help you get chatting. No cringe games. No forced introductions. Just easy conversation starters designed to take the pressure off meeting someone new.
We’ll also have a little “One fun fact about you” round later in the evening, so have yours ready!
The chairs will be removed from our private area, creating a large, open space designed for mingling, moving around and naturally meeting different people throughout the evening. Grab a drink, find someone to chat to, move around, join another conversation and enjoy the music together.
The Live Music
We’re delighted to welcome Uche Eke, an acclaimed international solo Soul, Motown and swing singer known for his powerful voice and energetic live performances.
The live music starts at 8:30pm, giving you plenty of time to arrive, settle in, grab a drink and meet the other guests before the music begins.
Who Is It For?
This event is designed for singles in their 40s, 50s and 60s who enjoy good music, a sociable atmosphere and meeting people in real life.
We’re working to create a balanced mix of men and women and encourage guests to book early rather than leaving it until the last minute.

Doors open at 7:30pm. We strongly recommend arriving on time so you can enjoy the icebreaker and meet people before the live music starts at 8:30pm.
You can, of course, arrive later, but you’ll get much more from the evening if you’re there from the beginning.

Tickets are non-refundable.
We release tickets in batches rather than putting the full event capacity on sale at once. This helps us keep the gender balanced….So, if tickets show as SOLD OUT, don’t panic! It may simply mean that the current batch has sold. As bookings come in, we’ll release further tickets where possible.
If you’d like to come, join the reserve list, pencil in the date and we’ll let you know when the next tickets are released.
With a capacity of just 60 guests, and our last Hitchin singles night selling out, we recommend booking early.
A Private Space For Our Singles Community
We’ve reserved a private area at The Orange Tree exclusively for ticket holders attending the singles event.
This helps us create the relaxed environment our guests have signed up for and means everyone in the space is there to meet and socialise with the singles community. The main bar remains available as normal for other pub customers, but guests attending the singles event should remain within our designated event area and use the bar service provided there.
Friends and non-ticket holders are welcome to use the main pub area, but unfortunately cannot join the private singles event space.

Most of our guests come on their own. Please don’t worry….You’ll be welcomed by Eleni when you arrive, given an icebreaker and introduced into the group so you don’t have to walk into a room of strangers and figure it all out yourself.

Is this speed dating?
No. There are no timed dates, rotations or forced one-to-one conversations. The evening is designed around relaxed mingling, live music and natural conversation.
What age group is the event for?
This event is designed primarily for singles in their 40s, 50s and 60s.
Will there be an equal number of men and women?
We’re aiming to create a balanced mix of men and women and actively monitor bookings. However, as this is a social event rather than speed dating, we don’t guarantee an exact 50/50 split.
Do I have to come on my own?
Not at all, but many people do. Single friends are welcome to attend together as long as everyone has a ticket.
Can my non-single friend come with me?
The private singles event area is exclusively for ticket holders, so everyone inside the event space must have purchased a ticket. Non-ticket holders can use the main bar area but cannot join the singles event..
Will there be seating?
We’re removing the chairs from our private area to create a more open space for mingling. There will be opportunities to grab a drink and socialise, but this is primarily a standing social event.
Do I have to participate in the icebreakers?
They’re there to make meeting people easier, not to make anyone uncomfortable. They’re deliberately light-touch and non-cringey. If you’d rather simply grab a drink and start chatting, that’s absolutely fine too.
