Tucked away behind an unassuming bookcase in Stevenage Old Town lies one of Hertfordshire’s most intriguing hidden lounges. Step inside an intimate cocktail bar designed for singles aged 40–55 who prefer something far more engaging than traditional speed dating.
This isn’t awkward rotations or interview-style questions. Instead, the night unfolds like a series of cocktail-inspired rounds — blending conversation, chemistry, and a touch of friendly competition.
And this time… there’s an added twist.
Alongside your Be Bold Token, you’ll also receive roulette chips. Throughout the evening, you can place your bets on red or black — or try your luck on a number that might just change your night. Every interaction, every round, every bold move earns you more chips.

The Experience:
7:30pm – Arrive & Introductions
Step into the hidden lounge and enjoy a complimentary mocktail as you meet fellow guests. On arrival, you’ll receive your Be Bold Token and your first set of roulette chips.
8:00pm — James Bon:Inspired by Bond’s iconic Vesper Martini, conversation flows across the tables with light prompts designed to keep things effortless, natural… and worth betting on.
8:45pm — Short Break
9:00pm — Dark & Stormy:The energy shifts. Conversation deepens, the stakes feel a little higher, and your roulette chips come into play again. Bet, play, and interact to build your stack.
9:45pm — The Bon Vivant’s Companion; Now the evening becomes yours. Use your ‘Be Bold Token’ to:
- Invite someone for a drink at the bar
- Continue a conversation that caught your attention
- Make a bold move
The guest with the most chips wins a complimentary cocktail.
10:30pm — Nightcap; The official evening may come to a close, although the best nights often have a habit of continuing long afterwards.

Q: What age is this singles event for? A: This event is aimed at singles aged 40–55. If you’re a year or two either side, that’s absolutely fine, we’re more interested in creating a great atmosphere and bringing together like-minded people.
Q: Is this speed dating? No. Whilst this is an alternative to traditional speed dating, there are no timers, awkward rotations or interview-style questions. The evening is designed around natural conversation, allowing connections to happen more organically.
Q: Will there be an equal mix of men and women? Yes. This is an intimate event with only 30 spaces available, with a target of 15 men and 15 women to help create a balanced atmosphere.
Q: Can I come on my own? Absolutely and most people do. Many guests arrive solo, and the evening is designed to feel relaxed and welcoming from the moment you walk through the door. I’ll be there making introductions and helping everyone settle in.
Q: What should I wear? Dress like you mean it. Think date-night energy rather than jeans and trainers. The venue is a hidden cocktail lounge, so this is your excuse to make a little effort and enjoy the occasion.
Q: What if I don’t drink alcohol? No problem at all. You’ll receive a complimentary mocktail on arrival and there are plenty of non-alcoholic options available throughout the evening.
Q: What happens if I can no longer attend? Tickets are non-refundable, so please double-check dates before booking.
Q: What time should I arrive? Please arrive for 7:30pm so everyone can settle in and the evening can begin together.
Q: Will I have to speak in front of everyone? Definitely not. This isn’t that kind of event. Conversations happen naturally in smaller groups and through prompts designed to take away the pressure.
Q: What if I don’t meet someone romantically? That’s completely okay. Be Dating Beautiful events are about more than finding ‘the one’. They’re about having a great night out, meeting new people, expanding your social circle and enjoying the experience.
