A Peek into the Kibou Cambridge Menu
At Kibou Cambridge, the menu revolves around exquisitely crafted sushi and sashimi plates that not only tantalise the taste buds but also captivate the eyes. Among the standout dishes is their surf and turf nigiri, featuring rice sushi adorned with succulent salmon, wagyu beef, and truffle mayo, creating a harmonious blend of flavours that melt in your mouth.
For those who share my passion for sustainability, Kibou’s dedication shines brightly in their sourcing practices, notably with their salmon carefully selected from a small-scale fishery in Scotland, underscoring their commitment to animal welfare. Moreover, the menu proudly features an array of vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options, guaranteeing a delightful culinary experience for all dietary preferences.
A highlight of our dining experience was the signature Yasai Volcano Futomaki, a tantalising seaweed-wrapped sushi roll dipped in tempura batter, fried to perfection, and drizzled with a special hot sauce. The crispy exterior beautifully complements the vibrant flavours of red pepper and avocado, creating a memorable food experience.
For those who relish the spectacle of craftsmanship, Kibou’s central area features an open sushi and hot kitchen, allowing guests to witness the artistry behind each dish as it comes to life.
Now, let’s talk about their Japanese-inspired cocktails and fine selection of sake. From unique infusions to traditional favourites, be sure to indulge in their Kaguwashi Martini, a captivating blend of gin, lemongrass, and apple that promises a sensory journey!
What if you Don’t Like Sushi?
Fear not! Kibou Cambridge offers plenty of alternatives, including bite-sized fried dumpling balls, steamed bao buns, and tempura king prawns, ensuring there’s something to suit every palate. They even have a dedicated kids menu featuring dishes like Katsu curry and rice bowls.

Although I refrained from capturing any food photos at the table, thanks to the less-than-charming date, I can’t help but praise the overall experience, including the food and ambience. Feeling a bit overwhelmed by the menu options, the staff were patient, and made recommendations that were delicious. I’d definitely give them 4 stars!
