Supporting Marmalade Trust to Tackle Loneliness

This Christmas, we’re supporting Marmalade Trust, the incredible UK charity behind Loneliness Awareness Week and a lifeline for people experiencing chronic loneliness. With outreach right here in Hertfordshire, Marmalade Trust supports single people and those isolated in our communities through a powerful 15-week connections programme. For many, this simple human connection stops them from spiralling further into loneliness and becomes the first step back into community and confidence.

This is a free singles community event designed to bring people together, make new connections, and support a cause that truly matters.
This is not a dating event, this is about kindness and supporting our singles community.

Event Details

📅 When: Sunday 21st December 📍 Meeting Point: Letchworth (full details after booking)
🕙 Start: 10:30am – Run or walk 6km loop
🫖 After: We’ll warm up in the pub with tea, coffee and mince pies because… it’s Christmas! 🎄✨

You can join us for the run/walk, or simply come for a cuppa afterwards from 11am.

Venue: A country pub in Letchworth that will be confirmed after booking

Why We’re Doing It

Loneliness isn’t just “feeling a bit on your own.” It’s a growing crisis. Did you know that…

• 85% of UK adults experienced loneliness in the last year.
• 44% felt chronically lonely.
• 500,000 older people go five to six days a week without seeing or speaking to anyone!
• Shockingly, 3.9 million older people say television is their main company. We can change that, one act of kindness, one conversation, one connection at a time.

This is personal for me. Having struggled with loneliness myself, and knowing how isolating it can be (especially around Christmas), I’m passionate about creating moments that bring people together. That’s what Be Dating Beautiful was founded on and it’s why supporting Marmalade Trust feels so close to my heart.

Booking

This is a free event, but all attendees must book a place so we can manage numbers. You can book free here, by simply checking out, or via meetup.

Everyone is welcome. Bring your festive spirit… Santa hats, elf outfits, sparkly wings… the more fun, the better!
